What does armistice mean and why do we honor Veterans on November 11th each year?
An armistice is a temporary cessation of hostilities. This went into effect between the Allied nations and Germany on the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month in 1918 during World War 1.
Veterans Day is “a day to be dedicated to the cause of world peace and to be thereafter celebrated and known as “Armistice Day.”
