Not to be mistaken for its more northerly namesake, this Carmel Valley is a beautiful and quickly growing community in San Diego County. Located in the northern part of the county, Carmel Valley is actually a subdivision of the city of San Diego that is home to 40,000 residents and rising. Carmel Valley is just north of Carmel Mountain, only two miles from the beaches of Del Mar and minutes from Interstate 5.
The economy of Carmel Valley is varied and alive. Many residents are employed in cutting-edge fields such as the biomedical, telecommunication and software industries.
Carmel Valley is home to a number of large businesses and shopping centers including Del Mar Highlands Town Center, Piazza Carmel and Carmel Country Plaza.
Students are served by two well-respected school districts: Del Mar Union, which operates elementary schools, and San Dieguito Union, which operates Carmel Valley Middle School and Torrey Pines High School. A number of universities and colleges are within a half-hour’s drive.
